About this Piece
This is a beautiful Claddagh ring made from 14 karat gold, a beautiful .05ct diamond set into the heart.
It has the classic Claddagh symbols of the heart, hands and crown. The heart represents love, the crown stands for loyalty and the hands represent friendship. The ring measures 10mm from the tip of the heart to the top of the crown, while the band is 3mm wide.
How the ring is worn is very significant - when the heart points to the wearer's heart it signifies that their heart is taken - when it points outward it means that their heart is free.
This ring is called "Ree" after Lough Ree in the midlands of Ireland - a place in Ireland full of history, majesty and mystery - the lake is a major part of the River Shannon and contains an Island that is said to be the true centre of Ireland.
The rings are hallmarked by the Irish Assay Office in Dublin Castle - the Assay Office was established in 1637 and has been protecting consumers for almost 380 years!
